Our dedicated team of highly specialised Neurologic Music Therapists work with our hospital partners

Recruited from the UK and internationally, Chroma provides expert Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) provision within brain injury rehabilitation settings.  This methodology is endorsed by the World Federation of Neurological Rehabilitation (WFNR) and the European Federation of Neurorehabilitation Societies (EFNS). It is defined as the therapeutic application of music to cognitive, sensory, and motor dysfunctions due to neurologic disease of the human nervous system (Thaut, 2007).

Our Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) packages are applied to three domains of rehabilitation: Sensorimotor, Speech and Language, and Cognitive. They are adaptable to the patient’s functional needs. We contribute to the interdisciplinary team assessment using the Music Therapy Assessment Tool for Awareness in Disorders of Consciousness (MATADOC).

We support patients with a range of acquired/traumatic brain injuries, stroke, Huntington’s Disease, complex developmental conditions, Infantil Cerebral Palsy, and a range of other neurological conditions and illnesses.

The videos featured show NMT techniques in action. The videos remain the property of the music therapists featured; we are using them to demonstrate the effectiveness of NMT in action.

“They are very much part of the multidisciplinary team involved in the care on our paediatric intensive care unit, general wards and the neurological rehab unit. We look forward to continuing a long and happy relationship with them.” Therapy Services Manager, The Portland Hospital for Women and Children
