Dramatherapy

Dramatherapy is a form of non-verbal psychotherapy that uses drama and play as the primary mode of expression and communication. It’s about encouraging people to access their creativity thereby activating the potential for healing through imagination, learning, insight and growth. Dramatherapy can be provided for individuals or for groups. People do not need to have had any previous experience or expertise in drama in order to use dramatherapy effectively.

Dramatherapy provides a safe space to explore and make sense of difficulties through the use of stories, art, music, play and creativity. It can support our emotional regulation; helping with anger outbursts, anxiety, depression and social withdrawal.
It facilitates positive changes in emotional well-being and communication, improves confidence and self-esteem and can enable processing and assimilation of the emotional impact of traumatic experience.

Dramatherapists have a playful, active and holistic approach which can be helpful in developing a person’s emotional growth. Working together with the therapist to create a safe environment, the client can connect deeply with parts of themselves and even discover new ones. Dramatherapy offers an opportunity to gain insight and get to know yourself better.
